What can cause dark circles.
"Dark circles" is one phrase for at least five different things. Identify yours and the treatment question mostly answers itself.
Pigmentation
Genuinely darker skin under the eyes — often genetic, more common in some skin tones, sometimes worsened by sun or rubbing. The cause where skin-quality treatments (including PRP, in suitable cases) have their best rationale.
Hollowing (tear troughs)
A groove under the eye casting a shadow that reads as darkness. Not a skin colour problem at all — which is why creams disappoint and why volume treatments, not PRP, are the usual conversation. The stretch test helps: gently stretch the skin — if the darkness largely disappears, shadow from a hollow is likely.
Visible vessels and thin skin
Blue-purple tones showing through naturally thin under-eye skin, often worse when tired or congested. Skin-quality approaches may soften the look; nothing erases anatomy, and honest expectations matter.
Lifestyle and health
Sleep debt, allergies, dehydration, smoking, and screen-heavy days all show here first. Free to address, and worth doing before spending anything.
Shadowing from above
Sometimes the "dark circle" is a heavier brow or lid casting shade. Different anatomy, different conversation — and a good assessor will spot it in seconds.
Which one is yours?
Ten minutes of proper assessment beats a year of guessing at products. If PRP isn't the answer for your cause, you'll hear that plainly.
